West Nautical are proud to be the headline sponsors for the year's 2024  North East Cure Usher Ball alongside WATA.

Set to be a star-studded evening, West Nautical are extremely proud to be headline sponsors for this year's Cure Usher Ball, alongside WATA. Emmerdale stars Laura Norton and Mark Jordon's two children are affected by the condition, for which there is currently no cure.

The ball is happening on Saturday 21st September at the Hilton hotel Newcastle Gateshead. After the major success of the 2023 Ball in Manchester,  Mark Jordon and Laura Norton are bringing the ball to Newcastle to celebrate Cure Usher’s progress and help fund research for usher syndrome.

What is Usher Syndrome?

A rare condition affecting between four and 17 people in every 100,000, Usher Syndrome eventually results in the loss of both sight and hearing. Caused by Retinitis Pigmentosa,  a proportion of patients also experience difficulties with their balance.

A night of fun

The evening will be full of fun, hosted by Steph McGovern, with music from Joe McElderry and a dj set by Chelsea Halfpenny. The evening will bringing together a host of businesses and individuals from the North East in aid of a very worthy cause – the quest to find a cure for Usher Syndrome.

With Laura and Mark leading the event it will hopefully be a regular annual fixture that we can continue to support for many years to come."

The total amount of money raised on the evening is set to be announced soon.
