West Nautical hosts a Superyacht Captain Command and Control Course

For 3 days this October (13th-15th), West Nautical are inviting a select number of yacht Captains to Newcastle upon Tyne in England, for their annual Command and Control Course.

Split between 2 days of intensive training in the state of the art marine simulator at South Shields Marine School, and one day of classroom exercises, presentations and training at the Akzonobel AwlGrip paint factory, Captains will be tested to effectively explore emergency scenarios under expert tuition, testing even the most experienced Masters.

With a journalist from the Crew Report attending throughout, West Nautical and its sponsors are arranging for all local accommodation, transport and evening entertainment, so that Captains can make the most of the event and the peer-to-peer networking opportunities. In addition to the course, West Nautical are arranging for a relaxing Friday, including a round of golf at a nearby country estate and tickets to the Newcastle Falcons Aviva Premiership rugby union match against Gloucester, and the potential for the Newcastle United Football Club tickets on the Sunday if any Captains are still in town.

West Nautical's Managing Director, Geoff Moore commented “this training course takes months of planning to ensure the Captains get the most out of it. The days in the simulator are superb, by learning from their peers, observing themselves in the debriefs and testing their own skills to, and beyond  their comfort limit, Captains leave being more competent and confident than before. Captains are often forgotten about when it comes to training, but this course is 100% focussed on them, and as such they get a huge amount from it.”
