West Nautical are pleased to announce the appointment of two new members of the UK team: Lou Mitchell (Yacht Manager) and Matthew Buley (Yacht Sales and Charter Broker position).

Matthew Buley has come to West Nautical with over 8 years experience within the Superyacht sector predominantly working directly with Yacht Owners specialising in Marine Insurance. With his experience and clients within the sector this will assist him in the further development of the Brokerage and Management teams. Working predominantly in the London and Southampton regions in addition to global travel, Matthew will give West Nautical a strong presence at all industry events and shows, as well as being flexible to meet with clients upon their request.

Buley commented "It is an extremely exciting time to be joining West Nautical as the business is growing on a daily basis both on the increasing management fleet which goes hand in hand with Yacht Sales & Charter Management. Quality service is a priority for me and combined with the work ethics of West Nautical I know the Client will be pleased they chose to work with myself and the team”.

Geoff Moore, West Nautical Managing Director commented: “Matt is a superb addition to our team. I’ve known and worked with him for years and I’ve never come across someone so dedicated to achieving the sale and ensuring the client gets exactly what they want. We welcome him and know he will be a huge success with West Nautical."
Lou Mitchell began her seafaring career 17 years ago as a deck cadet with Maersk, and sailed on tankers and container ships. Once qualified she worked on container ships, reaching the rank of Chief Officer. Lou holds a MCA Master 3000GT and Chief Officer Unlimited certificate of competency.

In 2008, Lou made the move ashore as a Marine Superintendent for Svitzer Towage, responsible for the tugs based within the Scotland / Northern Ireland region. In this role she ensured the tugs complied with the Company's policies on health and safety, crew training and familiarisation and operation.

After meeting her future husband in 2009, Lou moved to the North East and began working as a lecturer at South Shields Marine School, specialising in navigation, maritime law, shipboard management and ship construction with the responsibility for managing two cadet courses. Now Lou is looking forward to returning to front line industry and utilising the skills that she has developed both afloat and ashore.
Geoff Moore welcomed Lou to the team; "Lou is a superb addition to our growing yacht management team. She is immensely knowledgeable and experienced in maritime legislation, procedures, documentation and compliance. With her strong seafarer background and warm personality, Lou will bring excellent qualities to West Nautical and quickly build a strong working relationship with our captains and clients."

Both new employees are in Newcastle this week where West Nautical CEO Andrey Lomakin is visiting for strategy and marketing meetings in conjunction with fellow employees from Russia and France.
