In 2008, Lou made the move ashore as a Marine Superintendent for Svitzer Towage, responsible for the tugs based within the Scotland / Northern Ireland region. After meeting her future husband in 2009, Lou moved to the North East and began working as a lecturer at South Shields Marine School, specialising in navigation, maritime law, shipboard management and ship construction with the responsibility for managing two cadet courses. Now Lou is looking forward to returning to front line industry and utilising the skills that she has developed both afloat and ashore.
