Waterfront dining, dramatic cliffs, and historic harbours
Cradled in the heart of the Mediterranean, the Balearic Islands are a captivating collection of contrasts, where rugged coastlines meet turquoise bays, ancient towns blend with modern luxury, and each island tells its own unique story. From the legendary nightlife of Ibiza to the barefoot serenity of Formentera, the wild beauty of Menorca, and the mountain-backed harbours of Mallorca, this little collection of islands is a paradise for those who explore by sea.
At the centre of it all is Palma, Mallorca’s stylish capital, a vibrant port city where Gothic architecture, luxury boutiques, art galleries, and a world-class dining scene converge. It's both a cultural hub and a natural jumping-off point for a Balearic charter, seamlessly blending heritage with high-end lifestyle.
Cruising through the Balearics by yacht opens the door to secluded coves, waterfront dining, dramatic cliffs, and historic harbours , all at your own pace... Whether you're chasing sunsets off Es Vedrà, anchoring off the beaches of Cala Comte, or enjoying a long lunch in Port de Sóller, every stop is a postcard-perfect memory waiting to unfold.
Let me guide you through the islands’ most exceptional destinations, with insider insight, the ultimate way to discover the true spirit of the Balearics.
Ibiza
Ibiza offers so much more than its world-renowned nightlife. From a yacht, the island reveals a softer, more exclusive side: think hidden coves, clifftop dining, and crystal-clear waters ideal for snorkelling or paddleboarding.
Spend your day at Cala Jondal, home to chic beach clubs like Blue Marlin, or cruise north to Cala Xarraca for tranquillity and raw natural beauty. Don’t miss Cala Comte, famous for its electric-blue waters and breathtaking sunsets. Anchor offshore and take the tender in for sunset drinks at the iconic Sunset Ashram. The old town, Dalt Vila, is also a must for culture and sunset cocktails with sweeping views.
Known for it's exciting club scene, why not head to the island in time for its world renowned closing parties?
Formentera
Often described as the Caribbean of the Mediterranean, Formentera is a haven of laid-back elegance where yachting means long lunches, calm anchorages, and pristine beaches. The showstopper is Platja de Ses Illetes – with its soft white sand and shallow turquoise waters, it’s perfect for a relaxing day on board. Tender ashore for a meal at iconic beachfront spots like Juan y Andrea or Beso Beach.
Formentera is also a peaceful paradise known for its crystal-clear waters and unspoiled beauty. Anchor at Es Cavall d’en Borràs, a smaller, tranquil beach ideal for sunset cocktails and evening swims, with calm waters and a relaxed vibe. Nearby beach bars such as Chezz Gerdi offer chilled atmospheres and sunset DJ sets, enhancing the island’s laid-back spirit.
As a UNESCO-protected biosphere reserve, Formentera boasts exceptional water clarity and vibrant marine life perfect for snorkelling, paddleboarding, and diving straight from your yacht. Its compact size makes it easy to explore by bike or scooter, with must-see highlights including the panoramic views from the Faro de la Mola and Faro de Cap de Barbaria lighthouses.
Many of Formentera’s best coves and beaches are accessible only by boat, lending the island an exclusive and untouched feel. Its calm, sheltered anchorages make it perfect for overnight stays or leisurely day stops between Ibiza and Mallorca.
Es Vedrà
Rising dramatically from the sea just off Ibiza’s southwest coast, Es Vedrà is a limestone monolith steeped in mystery and magnetism. Uninhabited, unspoiled, and utterly iconic, it’s one of the most breathtaking and spiritual sights in the Mediterranean.
Believed to be the third most magnetic place on Earth, Es Vedrà has a distinct, almost otherworldly presence that leaves a lasting impression. Anchoring nearby offers front-row seats to its majestic silhouette, and most yachts arrive late afternoon to soak up the calm energy and witness a surreal sunset.
The view of the sun setting behind Es Vedrà is legendary and a daily ritual for both locals and travellers alike. Enjoy the spectacle from your sundeck with a glass of champagne, or tender ashore to Cala d’Hort beach for a more grounded perspective.
Many visitors describe feeling a deep sense of calm or clarity near Es Vedrà. It has become a place of spiritual retreat, meditation, and reflection, perfect for guests seeking to reconnect with nature and themselves.
Andratx
Located on Mallorca’s southwest coast, Port d’Andratx beautifully blends upscale marina life with traditional Mediterranean charm. Expect designer boutiques, and elegant seafood restaurants nestled into the hillside. It’s also the perfect jumping-off point for exploring the wild, unspoiled coastline of Dragonera Island, a nearby nature reserve just a short sail away.
The dining scene here is relaxed yet refined, featuring some of the island’s finest restaurants like Oliu, Villa Italia, and Romeos. Think fresh seafood platters, candlelit terraces, and sunset cocktails. For those interested in culture, the marina is dotted with galleries and artisan shops, perfect for a leisurely afternoon exploring ashore.
Surrounding hills and walking trails, such as the scenic hike up to Sa Talaia, offer panoramic views over the coastline. Boutique shopping blends designer fashion with local crafts and curated beachwear, while nearby village markets provide a glimpse into traditional Mallorcan life.
Port de Sóller
Tucked between the dramatic peaks of the Tramuntana Mountains and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, Port de Sóller offers an idyllic blend of scenic beauty, local character, and relaxed luxury. It’s the perfect haven for yacht guests seeking authenticity, comfort, and stunning coastal landscapes.
A charming way to explore ashore is the historic vintage tram that runs from the port to Sóller, a picturesque inland town renowned for its modernist architecture and fragrant orange groves. It truly feels like you have stepped back in time!
Surrounded by the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the area provides dramatic mountain backdrops and excellent hiking opportunities. Trails lead to scenic viewpoints like Torre Picada, where panoramic sea views make for unforgettable photos and sunset moments.
Pollensa (Port de Pollença)
Nestled in northern Mallorca, Port de Pollença is renowned for its relaxed atmosphere, beautiful promenade, and stunning natural surroundings. The wide Bay of Pollença is one of the most protected natural harbours on the island, with calm waters perfect for anchoring or docking at Club Nàutic.
The Pine Walk Promenade is ideal for gentle strolls, lined with charming cafés, seafront villas, and a welcoming, family-friendly vibe. By tender, guests can explore secluded swimming spots at Cala Boquer, Cala Figuera, or Cala Murta, all surrounded by dramatic cliffs.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the area offers world-renowned cycling and hiking routes. Just 10 minutes inland. And the historic town of Pollença awaits with its cobbled streets, artisan markets, and local charm. A must-visit is the climb up the Calvari Steps, with 365 steps leading to a peaceful chapel and panoramic views over the town and sea.
With its slower pace and elegant simplicity, Port de Pollença is perfect for guests seeking downtime, wellness moments, or quality family time. It's a restorative stop between the dramatic landscapes of Formentor and the vibrant energy of Palma.
Palma
The beating heart of Mallorca and the largest port in the Balearic Islands, Palma is where cultural heritage meets contemporary Mediterranean luxury. Whether you're beginning or ending your charter here, this cosmopolitan capital offers a rich and rewarding experience, both on land and from the water.
Dock at Marina Port de Mallorca or Club de Mar, and step ashore into a city steeped in history and style. Towering above the sea wall, the majestic La Seu Cathedral dominates the skyline, a Gothic masterpiece with stunning Gaudí-designed elements inside.
Palma’s Old Town invites you to wander through narrow, cobbled streets lined with stately townhouses, hidden courtyards, and designer boutiques. The elegant Passeig del Born is perfect for a pre-dinner stroll, coffee stop, or a bit of high-end shopping.
The city has also become a culinary destination in its own right. From vibrant tapas bars to Michelin-starred restaurants, Palma caters to every palate. Standouts include Marc Fosh, Adrián Quetglas, and beloved locals like Ombu and Forn de Sant Joan, all offering creative takes on Mediterranean cuisine.
Dynamic yet effortlessly relaxed, Palma delivers a memorable end (or beginning) to your Balearic cruise, blending history, style, and sea views in perfect harmony.
Of course, this is only a glimpse into what the Balearic Islands have to offer. From hidden anchorages and remote beach bars to mountain villages, vibrant markets, and world-class gastronomy, there’s so much more waiting to be discovered by sea. Every itinerary can be tailored, every experience made your own ,that’s the beauty of chartering here.
