  1. What new build yachts are West Nautical currently managing at Sanlorenzo?

We currently have four Sanlorenzo yachts under new build management. These yacht are a 58m diesel electric, a 56m steel, a 52m steel and lastly a 44m alloy.

  1. Did the build process start with the owner or were the yachts sold after the build had already begun?

Two of the yachts we are managing were started from scratch and the other two were started when the hull’s had been completed. When we started managing the newbuild projects, the hulls were completed on both the 44m alloy Sanlorenzo and the 52m steel, which is hull number eight.

  1. To what degree have the standard Sanlorenzo GA's been changed to cater for the owners’ requirements?

Each owner is making large changes to the GA of their yachts due to the fact that the Sanlorenzo architecture allows for amendments. For example, the 44m alloy we are managing is hull number eight and all eight hulls of this model have different GA’s in the master cabin because due to the fact that the master is 100m2 in size and is split over three decks of the yacht therefore allowing huge modifications to the space. The beach club and salons on board each yacht are also vastly different. The 52m steel, 56m steel and 58m diesel electric also had many amendments made to the GA such as the position of the tender garage, the location of the master cabin, the layout of the upper salon and large dining areas as well as the addition of an on-board cinema. The owners love the stylish exterior design of Sanlorenzo yachts as well as the fact that the architecture of the yacht allows for many modifications.

  1. Have there been any well know external designers brought in to design the interior of these newbuilds?

Two of the yachts invited the well-known company H2 yacht design, one of the yachts is being designed by John Vickers and the last of the four yachts is having their interior designed by the Sanlorenzo team.

  1. Are these yachts being built with hybrid propulsion?

The 58m Sanlorenzo we are managing is being fitted with a diesel electric hybrid propulsion system on board. This system consists of two electric pods and five generators. This yacht can travel up to 50nm only using electrical power allowing the yacht to travel to beautiful destinations without any air pollution, a true step forward into the green future of yachting.

  1. Are there any other aspects of the build or design process that make any of the yachts more environmentally friendly or economical?

There are many aspects of the design of these yachts that make them more economical and environmentally friendly. Starting with tier three standards, which make the exhausts much cleaner. The yachts have been fitted with more electrical power to decrease the amount of fuel being burned by the generators. The number treatment systems fitted on board has been increased which in turn decreases the amount of pollution being put into the ocean.

  1. Why did the owners of these yachts select Sanlorenzo over other shipyards when purchasing or commissioning these yachts?

The owners of all four yachts believe that Sanlorenzo is the best Italian builder of yachts with outstanding style and architecture. Sanlorenzo have many clever solutions on board their yachts and great freedom for modifications. Sanlorenzo yachts are also known to have low levels of noise and vibrations with the 56m and 58m achieving noise levels 34 / 36 decibels in the master cabin at anchor.

  1. When are the yachts due to be delivered?

The 58m is due to be delivered in 2024. The 56m steel, 52m steel and 44m alloy are due to be delivered in 2023.

  1. Do you expect to see an increase in new build yachts being commissioned over the next year or two or do you think the demand will decrease and why?

Most shipyards are fully ordered until 2025 meaning that production across the board is full. There are many Sanlorenzo yachts coming out between now and 2025. It would surprise me to find shipyards with space to add new build yachts in the next few years, most shipyards are running at maximum capacity at the moment.
