Why you should buy the fabulous Queen of Sheba
Why you should buy the fabulous Queen of Sheba

To say Queen of Sheba is in immaculate condition is an understatement - with an intensive maintenance programme and extremely limited use, she really has been meticulously cared for.

So, what makes the 34m Ferretti Custom Line Queen of Sheba such a unique purchase opportunity? We caught up with her long-standing captain, Tim Collins, to learn more.

Tim became captain of Queen of Sheba back in 2008 while she was still under warranty, and after holding the position for 11 years, he knows Queen of Sheba better than anyone else. The current chief engineer joined the yacht shortly after, and between them they have overseen every technical detail and nuance, ensuring the yacht is maintained in perfect condition.

This is of course what every yacht owner expects, but its clear that Queen of Sheba has gone above and beyond standard expectations, and a prospective buyer can rest easy knowing their yacht is in pristine condition.

Queen of Sheba has spent most of her life berthed in in fresh water in Sweden and cruising the fjords of Norway, having made only four short-term visits to the Mediterranean in that time, all by transport to minimise wear and tear. At the end of each season she has been removed from the water and kept in covered and heated storage throughout the winter, which has only added to her flawless appearance and performance.

The yacht is in beautiful condition following a full new paint job of the hull and superstructure in 2018 and a meticulous ongoing maintenance schedule.

“We have a zero break down policy”, said Tim. “This means we are always servicing, updating and replacing. We modernise everything all the time. She has new paintwork completed in 2018 and we repainted the hull in 2011, her electronics are also painstakingly maintained.”

He continued: “We’ve had a very good maintenance system, lots of money has been spent on keeping her in tip top condition.  Everything is working perfectly, and everything is as it should be.”

In addition to the time and money that has gone into maintaining Queen of Sheba to a high standard, her security and safety has also been a priority.

“It’s not just maintenance that we take seriously”, said Tim. “We’ve been maintaining the boat under MLC and ISM standard, something that is neither required or expected for a yacht the size of Queen of Sheba, but it reflects the care and attention that has been put into maintaining her quality, the current owner expects nothing less.”

The superyacht’s immaculate presentation is in part down to very limited owner use and low engine hours. The tender has not been used much at all, it has less than 50 hours on it over the last 12 years.

Queen of Sheba has been one of the most popular charter yachts cruising the Norwegian fjords, but with the owner’s desire to sell and upgrade to a much larger yacht, her last trip to the Mediterranean by transport saw  her inaugural display during the 2018 Cannes and Monaco yacht shows and is currently in Port Vell Barcelona for winter, where she will participate in the Spanish yacht shows this Spring before returning to the South of France for summer 2019.

Tim explained: “She handles the sea well but ultimately she is a Mediterranean fair-weather cruising boat. She is designed for Mediterranean port hopping and she really has the speed to do it; she has lots of power and speed to get to these places.”

On board, features include a sociable sun deck complete with a barbecue and jacuzzi, as well as a good selection of toys.

Queen of Sheba really is a turnkey yacht, maintained in perfect condition, and ready for a new owner to step on board and enjoy straight away, without fear of any technical or aesthetic issues getting in the way.

Tim continued: “Queen of Sheba’s interior is classic contemporary, but it would be a simple and cost-effective job for a new owner to fit more modern features if they so wished. The carpets and soft furnishings are in excellent condition and are very neutral. A new owner could turn the boat around to a totally different interior style in around two weeks.”

Queen of Sheba is able to comfortably accommodate ten guests in five cabins, comprising a full beam master suite on the main deck, two double cabins and two twin cabins, both of which have recently had their beds extended to 100cm. There is also the added benefit of two children’s Pullmans, taking the total number of guests onboard to 12 if desired. She has additional accommodation for her crew of six.

Because QoS follows such an aggressive ongoing maintenance program, only very minor maintenance work is in the pipeline for QoS during the 2018/19 winter and she is available for viewing in Port Vell Barcelona, upon request.
