West Nautical joins force with Seafarer Union Nautilus International

The West Nautical yacht management department welcomed a visit of Nautilus International into their Newcastle office to form a strategic alliance.

Nautilus International, a trade union and professional organisation representing more than 22,000 maritime professionals in the UK, Netherlands and Switzerland, visited the West Nautical office after connecting at this years’ Monaco Yacht Show. The two organisations have joined forces and signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining the benefits to each side. In common with the Union’s other strategic partnerships, West Nautical will recommend Nautilus membership to the individual officers, crew and shore-based workers it attracts.

West Nautical Managing Director Geoff Moore said: ‘We are delighted to be working with Nautilus. Three of our management department served in the British Merchant Navy and were all active members of the Union. Two of us continue to be members of Nautilus now we are shoreside employees.’

Nautilus senior assistant organiser Danny McGowan said: ‘The time is right for developing strategic partnerships with high quality organisations. This is an essential part of the Union’s work for members crewing large yachts.’
